Concord General Contracting Hosts ElevateEdAZ Tour at Rock Point Church

Description

Concord does more than turn drawings into brick-and-mortar buildings. The company is fully invested in teaching and inspiring the younger generations to enter the construction industry that they are so passionate about. One program they actively partner with throughout the year is ElevateEdAZ.

ElevateEdAZ is a transformative program aimed at bridging the gap between education and workforce needs in Arizona, specifically by aligning learning pathways with the demands of the state’s leading industries. The program focuses on preparing students for high-wage, high-demand careers by increasing their enrollment and success in career-oriented pathways, and by offering hands-on, work-based learning experiences. Concord collaborates with ElevateEdAZ quarterly.

In a recent partnership, Concord brought 20 ElevateEdAZ students to Rock Point Church for an interactive career pathway presentation, where students learned about the wide range of roles within the construction industry, the skills required, and the rewarding career opportunities available, with or without a degree. John Russell, director of operations at Concord, is passionate about leading these presentations, because he’s sat in the exact spot as these kids when he was their age, and enjoys paying it forward in hopes to help these kids on their construction career journey.

In addition to the presentation, students are offered an immersive experience through a guided tour of the active construction site. These jobsite tours give students a firsthand look at the various stages of construction projects, helping them see the trades in action and gain a deeper understanding of the industry. These tours not only spark interest in construction careers but also help students connect the dots between what they learn in school and real-world applications.

Concord truly enjoys supporting ElevateEdAZ’s mission by helping students explore meaningful career pathways, gain practical exposure, and develop the skills needed to succeed in Arizona’s growing construction sector.
