Concord General Contracting teamed up with Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center to sponsor their adoption event, “Super Paws: Be a Hero, Adopt a Sidekick.” Concord was ecstatic to sponsor all adoption fees during the event — not only as a partner in construction, but as a company that is passionate about animals and giving back to the community. The event was more successful than anyone could have imagined. Community members gathered for a fun-filled afternoon in support of the animal shelter, and 30 furry friends found their forever home.
The “Super Paws” event was filled with games, activities, community, and a lot of wagging tails. The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center prides itself on being a no-kill shelter, but like a lot of animal care facilities, it is consistently at capacity and in need of adopters. In the summer months, the Center’s employees began dreaming of an event that would clear the shelter so they could rescue more animals. When the partnership with Concord General Contracting began, their dream became a reality.
“When we heard their vision for this event, Concord couldn’t say ‘yes’ fast enough by offering to cover all the adoption fees at the event,” said Concord General Contracting CEO Grenee Martacho.
One of the many heartwarming stories from the event involved a gentleman who approached Martacho and said, “I want to adopt a friend — either a cat or a dog, whichever one warms up to me.” He spends his days at home and was seeking a sidekick. Fast forward an hour, and Martacho found him sitting with a dog. “She jumped right into my lap and laid down. She will be the perfect companion,” he shared.
The event concluded with 30 successful adoptions and three foster-to-adopt situations.
“This is why we do what we do,” Martacho said. “We build great facilities that truly make a difference for the end users and support them in any way we can along the way.”
